R.S. Praveen Kumar alleges delay in incentives for skater Tejesh

Hyderabad: BRS leader R.S. Praveen Kumar alleged that international skater Tejesh had not received financial incentives promised by the Telangana government despite winning medals at national and international competitions.

In a post on X, Praveen Kumar claimed a cheque for Rs 5 lakh presented to the athlete had bounced.

He said Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari handed over the cheque to Tejesh on National Sports Day in 2025 and posed for photographs with the athlete.

Praveen Kumar alleged that nearly 10 months had passed since then without the issue being resolved.

Skater Tejesh deserves promised incentives, says RSP

According to the BRS leader, Tejesh won around 174 medals in skating competitions at the international level.

He said the athlete represented Telangana in events including the Asian Games, Oceania Championships and Khelo India competitions.

Praveen Kumar claimed Tejesh should receive Rs 1.55 crore under the state’s sports policy.

He questioned the government’s commitment to promoting sports and supporting athletes in Telangana.

The BRS leader also urged the government to release pending incentives to Tejesh and other athletes who won medals at national and international events.

He further demanded that eligible sportspersons receive the rewards and government jobs promised under the sports policy.
