Two robbery accused arrested at Secunderabad railway station

Hyderabad: Secunderabad Railway Police had arrested two habitual offenders involved in a robbery case at Secunderabad Railway Station.

The robbery accused arrested were identified as Thandur Mahendar, 20, and Pegada Anjali, 30. Police said both were taken into custody on May 1 during a joint operation with the Railway Protection Force.

According to officials, the accused earned their livelihood by collecting and selling empty bottles. However, they were habitual offenders and had earlier been involved in property crimes under Neradmet and Gopalapuram police station limits.

Police said the duo continued criminal activities even after release from jail. Therefore, surveillance teams tracked their movements around the railway station area.

Robbery accused arrested after knife attack incident

The incident occurred on the night of April 29. The accused reached Secunderabad Railway Station carrying a folding knife.

At around 11:30 pm, they approached a victim and demanded money while threatening him with the knife. When the victim refused, Mahendar attacked him.

The victim sustained bleeding injuries on his forehead and right-hand index finger. He was also punched on the nose during the assault.

Police said Anjali then took ₹500 from the victim’s shirt pocket. Both accused fled the spot immediately after committing the robbery.

Robbery accused arrested during police operation

On May 1 at about 10 am, police teams noticed the suspects moving in a suspicious manner near the outskirts of Secunderabad Railway Station.

The Secunderabad Railway Police, along with RPF personnel, apprehended them. During questioning, both accused admitted to committing the offence.

Police recovered ₹200 in cash from the accused. They also seized the knife used in the crime.

The operation was led by SHO B. Saieashwar Goud along with officers S.V. Subba Reddy and T. Madhav. Crime team members and women staff also took part.

RPF officials, including Bhavani Shankar Saraswat, supported the operation. Senior officers supervised the arrests and subsequent investigation.

Railway and Road Safety IGP K. Ramesh Naidu appreciated the police team. He stated that the officers involved would be rewarded for their work.
