Hyderabad: Telangana transport enforcement will be intensified across the state after Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar directed officials to strengthen inspections and take strict action against vehicles violating transport rules.
The minister instructed officials to conduct extensive inspections against overloaded vehicles, vehicles that failed to pay quarterly taxes and those operating without valid fitness certificates. He directed authorities to seize such vehicles whenever necessary.
Additionally, the minister ordered officials to impose heavy penalties on vehicles that defaulted on quarterly tax payments. According to him, enforcement teams should not show any leniency while dealing with transport rule violations.

Further, the minister directed officials to make the best use of the available staff to strengthen enforcement across the state. He said the government had fulfilled its promise to reinforce enforcement after abolishing transport check-posts.
During the review meeting, he assessed the performance of the mobile squads operating across the erstwhile districts since June 8. Meanwhile, he instructed officials to continue intensifying inspections with the existing workforce.
The minister also placed special emphasis on passenger safety. He directed officials to take immediate and strict action against violations involving sleeper buses. Authorities should not tolerate any breach of safety norms, he said.
