Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy questions Harish Rao over assigned land registrations

Hyderabad: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy criticised former minister Harish Rao over assigned land registrations. He questioned how Harish Rao’s maternal uncle’s land received registration if such approvals were unlawful.

Ponguleti said no government could legally allow the registration of assigned lands. He questioned Harish Rao’s response to the registration involving his maternal uncle’s land.

Speaking informally to the media in the Assembly lobby, the minister responded to Harish Rao’s claim about an NOC. Harish Rao had said the previous Congress government issued the NOC for the land.

Ponguleti said granting permission for assigned lands violated the law. He also questioned whether Harish Rao knew about the legal position.

The minister further accused BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy of using a fake NOC to register Bhoodan land. He said that registration was also wrong.

Ponguleti also raised allegations involving former minister Gangula Kamalakar. He said officials registered prohibited land in that case despite status quo orders from the High Court and Supreme Court.

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy shares 22A land details

The minister said every government must follow the law while dealing with government land. He also shared details about the 22A prohibited land list.

Ponguleti said only about four lakh acres in the 22A list were patta lands. He said government land accounted for the remaining area.

The Congress government reduced the 22A list by 47,440 acres after taking office, he said. The Assembly had already received information about the reduction.

Ponguleti said the government would soon disclose complete details of alleged land irregularities during the previous government’s tenure. He also said officials would take key decisions on the 22A land issue soon.

The minister reiterated that governments could not legally register assigned or government land. He said the government would disclose further details of the alleged irregularities shortly.
