Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force sleuths and Pahadishareef Police arrested two accused involved in multiple auto battery theft and auto-rickshaw theft cases.
Police identified the arrested accused as Mohd Akber (35), a labourer from Chintalmet, and Faizullah Khan alias Faiz (42), a flower businessman from Kishanbagh. Another accused, Mohd Hameeduddin alias Imran (27), remains absconding.
Police seized three Bajaj passenger auto-rickshaws and nine vehicle batteries worth nearly Rs 7 lakh from the accused.
Investigators found that the accused were habitual offenders. They had earlier figured in vehicle battery theft cases registered at Adibatla Police Station.
Police said the accused met each other while lodged in Central Prison, Chanchalguda. After their release, they allegedly planned fresh property offences.
Auto battery theft accused involved in multiple cases
According to police, the accused later committed several auto thefts in Jadcherla, Mahabubnagar Rural and Mahabubnagar Town areas. They also allegedly targeted parked DCM and tractor vehicles in Medchal, Tukkuguda and Maheshwaram by stealing batteries.
Police registered multiple cases against the accused in Maheshwaram, Medchal, Pahadishareef, Jadcherla and Mahabubnagar police stations.
Acting on credible information, the Shamshabad Zone Task Force and Pahadishareef Police apprehended the accused and recovered the stolen property. Police said efforts were underway to trace the absconding accused.
According to officials, Mohd Akber was involved in three property offence cases. Faizullah Khan reportedly figured in 15 property offence cases.
Inspector K. Venkat Reddy supervised the operation along with DI Debora, SIs K. Naga Raju and S. Seshu, and other police personnel.
