Hyderabad: Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Thursday announced that the state government had decided to construct permanent government office buildings for Tahsildar, RDO and sub-registrar offices across Telangana.
The Minister said the government would undertake the construction programme through the Housing Corporation. He said the initiative aimed to provide convenient, transparent and efficient public services.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy made the announcement during a review meeting with senior officials of the Revenue and Housing departments at the Secretariat.
Revenue Secretary D.S. Lokesh Kumar, Inspector General of Stamps and Registration Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu and Housing Secretary V.P. Gowtham attended the meeting.
Permanent government office buildings to replace rented premises
Officials reviewed details of Tahsildar, RDO and sub-registrar offices that currently operate from rented premises. They also examined offices functioning from dilapidated or unsuitable buildings.
The Minister said government offices should not function from rented buildings. He added that the decision reflected Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision of creating dignified public service centres.
In the first phase, the government will construct permanent government office buildings for 125 Tahsildar offices and 11 RDO offices. These offices currently function from rented or deteriorated premises.
The Minister directed Revenue Department officials to submit reports on repair requirements at other locations.
Permanent government office buildings to follow uniform design
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy instructed officials to identify suitable sites immediately and prepare an action plan to begin construction at the earliest.
He said all permanent government office buildings would follow a uniform design model across the state. The buildings would also provide easy public access.
The Minister said officials would finalise the designs after consultations with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
He added that the new infrastructure would help departments deliver better services to the public at lower operational costs.
