Hyderabad: Drugs Control Administration (DCA) officials raided an illegal medical shop in Karimnagar district and seized medicines worth Rs 5.51 lakh from the unlicensed outlet.
Acting on specific information, DCA officials conducted a raid at Choppadandi village and found medicines stocked for sale without a valid drug licence.
Officials identified 28 varieties of medicines at the premises. The stock included antibiotics, intravenous fluids, painkillers and diagnostic kits. Authorities alleged that Mallarapu Akhil operated the shop.

DCA officials seized the medicines and sent the stock for analysis. They launched a further investigation into the case.
The department said it would initiate legal action against all offenders under the relevant provisions of law.
Officials also warned wholesalers against supplying medicines to unlicensed outlets. The department said violators would face stringent action under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

S. Umarani, Drugs Inspector, Karimnagar, conducted the raid under the supervision of K. Dass, Deputy Director, Nizamabad, and Dr. N. Narsaiah, Assistant Director, Karimnagar.
DCA officers also collected samples from the seized stock for analysis as part of the investigation.
