Objections mount over Kavitha’s TRS party name proposal

Hyderabad: A dispute has emerged over the TRS party name proposed by Kalvakuntla Kavitha for her new political outfit.

Reports suggest that hundreds of objections have reached the Election Commission.

Political circles claim that nearly 700 people filed objections after public notices invited responses to the proposed registration of Telangana Rakshana Sena.

The development has intensified the battle over the TRS acronym in Telangana politics.

TRS party name faces challenge from rival application

The controversy took a fresh turn after reports emerged about another application using the same acronym.

According to reports, Dayanand Mahadev Mamdyal from Solapur approached the Election Commission seeking registration of a party named Telangana Rajya Samajika Sena.

Although the names differ, both organisations use the abbreviation TRS.

As a result, political circles are discussing a possible title dispute before the Election Commission.

Meanwhile, Kavitha has faced repeated hurdles in finalising her party’s identity.

During the launch event last month, she referred to the organisation as TRS.

However, display screens at the venue carried the name Telangana Rashtra Sena.

A few days later, the party announced the name Telangana Rakshana Sena.

The change in nomenclature attracted political attention.

Further, the latest objections have raised questions about whether Kavitha will retain the TRS abbreviation.

The Election Commission will now examine the competing claims before taking a decision on registration.
