Kavitha targets KCR, BRS with Telangana Rashtra Sena launch

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha launched her new party and broke with BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, accusing the leadership of straying from its founding path.

At a public meeting in Medchal district’s Muneerabad, she announced the party name. A large crowd gathered at the venue. The move, however, triggered sharp reactions across political circles. Kavitha positioned Telangana Rashtra Sena as an alternative rooted in statehood ideals.

During her address, Kavitha directly targeted BRS leadership. She said the movement led by K Chandrasekhar Rao had veered off course. Moreover, she alleged that the vision of a social Telangana had collapsed midway. Even after 12 years of state formation, she said, public expectations remained unmet.

In a pointed attack, she said K Chandrasekhar Rao no longer remained accessible to the public. According to her, his leadership style had shifted over time. As a result, she claimed, he distanced himself from people’s issues. Earlier, he responded to crises faced by handloom workers. She recalled that he extended support during difficult times.

However, Kavitha said she had waited for a change in his functioning. No shift came, she added. Instead, she stated, the party suspended her. Therefore, she said, the decision to form Telangana Rashtra Sena became necessary.

She maintained that the new outfit aimed to protect Telangana’s spirit. At the same time, it would restore accountability in governance. The party, she asserted, would address public concerns that remained ignored under the current leadership.
