Hyderabad: Aasara pensions applications are now open for eligible beneficiaries under the Cheyutha Social Security Pension Scheme, with submissions accepted until August 31, 2026.
The Telangana Government has started the process to sanction new pensions for poor and vulnerable sections of society. The initiative aims to strengthen social security for eligible beneficiaries.
Initially, the government will consider applications from single women, widows, persons with disabilities, toddy tappers and handloom workers.
The first phase will also cover filariasis patients. In addition, people with thalassemia, sickle cell disease and haemophilia can seek benefits under the scheme.
The government has clarified that it has not changed the eligibility criteria. Officials will continue to follow the guidelines in Government Orders issued by previous governments.
They will assess eligibility under the relevant Government Orders issued between 2014 and 2018.
Officials will also consider applications submitted through Praja Palana programmes, 99-day progress plan Gram Sabhas and Prajavani.
Applicants who already submitted their applications and all required documents do not need to apply again. However, people who submitted incomplete documents can file fresh applications.
Eligible persons who have not applied earlier can also submit applications before the deadline.
Aasara pensions verification to follow prescribed guidelines
District Collectors will coordinate with concerned departments to obtain the certificates required for eligibility verification.
Widows must provide the husband’s death certificate. Single women will need a separation certificate or a report based on a local inquiry.
The Excise Department will issue certification for toddy tappers. Likewise, the Handlooms and Textiles Department will certify eligible handloom workers.
The Medical and Health Department will provide certification for filariasis patients. Officials will use these documents during the eligibility assessment.
After scrutiny, designated officials will conduct field-level verification. They will check whether applicants meet the prescribed eligibility conditions.
Officials will then forward the eligible beneficiary list to the district level. The District Collector will approve the pension sanctions after the verification process.
The government has also assigned responsibilities to Self-Help Group federations. These federations will assist eligible widows and single women with applications and required certificates.
Applicants can submit new pension applications until August 31, 2026. Meanwhile, officials will begin entering application details on the Cheyutha portal.
The government has instructed officials to maintain transparency and follow the prescribed rules throughout the process.
By retaining the existing eligibility criteria and speeding up verification, the government aims to extend social security benefits to every eligible person.
