Five killed in Nampally furniture shop fire

Hyderabad: Five people trapped inside a furniture shop in Nampally were found dead on Sunday morning after a massive fire broke out in the building the previous day. Officials recovered the bodies following a rescue operation that lasted over 22 hours.

Authorities identified the deceased as Praneeth (8), Akhil (11), Baby (45), Intiyaz (28), and Habeeb (32). All victims were reportedly trapped in the cellar of the four-storey building. The bodies have been shifted to Osmania Hospital for post-mortem examination. Rescue teams are still searching for one more person who remains unaccounted for.

Officials suspect that the structural stability of the building may have worsened due to the intense and prolonged blaze. Thick smoke and lingering heat continued to hamper rescue efforts into Sunday.

The fire department, Hyderabad police, and other departments coordinated efforts across nine teams during the rescue and firefighting operation. Locals told officials that six people were inside the building when the fire began.
