Hyderabad: The Telangana State Election Commission is likely to announce the municipal election schedule today, as the State Election Commissioner prepares to address the media at 4 pm.
According to official sources, the Commission will notify elections to 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations across the State. Immediately after the announcement of the municipal election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct will come into force. As a result, restrictions will apply to government announcements and political activity.
Meanwhile, election authorities have completed preparatory work. District administrations have also remained on alert ahead of the briefing about the municipal election schedule. Therefore, the formal election process for urban local bodies will begin today.

After the schedule release, political parties are expected to intensify preparations. Consequently, the Model Code of Conduct will regulate campaigning, transfers and official programmes. For clarity, the municipal election schedule will provide key dates and deadlines for all stakeholders.
