Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao termed the RTC driver death as “state murder” and blamed the Congress government for Shankar Goud’s death in Narsampet.
He said the incident was not a suicide but resulted from continued neglect of RTC workers’ issues over the past two and a half years. Meanwhile, he demanded justice for the bereaved family.
KTR sought ₹1 crore compensation and a government job for one family member. In addition, he urged the government to extend full support to the family.
RTC driver death triggers demand for action and accountability
He criticised authorities for not allowing Shankar Goud’s mortal remains to be taken to the Narsampet depot for tributes. Further, he condemned the arrest of former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy and other BRS leaders and workers.
KTR demanded immediate release of those detained and urged the government to allow RTC staff and sympathisers to pay homage at the depot. Meanwhile, he said such restrictions had angered workers.
He said multiple RTC employees attempting suicide on the same day reflects deep distress among workers. Moreover, he termed the incident a “black day” in Telangana’s history.
KTR alleged that the government failed to fulfil election promises and attempted to weaken the RTC. Therefore, he called for urgent talks to resolve workers’ demands and restore confidence.
He appealed to RTC employees not to resort to extreme steps. Finally, he assured that BRS will stand by them in their united and peaceful struggle.
