KTR urges PM Modi to act on Kancha Gachibowli land fraud and forest destruction

HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K. Tarakarama Rao has written a strongly worded letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the central government to take swift action over what he described as a massive financial and environmental scandal in Kancha Gachibowli, allegedly perpetrated by the Congress government in Telangana under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Reacting to Modi’s recent remarks on the issue, KTR said he was encouraged by the Prime Minister’s comments about the destruction of the Kancha Gachibowli forest, but cautioned against mere “lip service”.

He pointed out that the destruction of over 100 acres of forest land in the area represented not only a “grave environmental catastrophe” that wiped out local biodiversity, but also a “massive financial fraud” amounting to ₹10,000 crore. He accused the Congress government of mortgaging forest land for financial gain.

KTR stated that the matter had already been brought to the notice of central investigative agencies, including the CVC, CBI, SFIO, SEBI, and RBI. He further cited the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee, which he said had validated the existence of financial irregularities and called for a detailed investigation by central agencies.

“As our cities choke, environmental protection is paramount,” KTR wrote, adding that it was equally important to “expose politicians like Revanth Reddy, who brazenly and shamelessly bulldoze the systems.”

He urged the Union government to expedite the investigation, saying it was time to demonstrate that the BJP was not colluding with the Congress in Telangana, and that Prime Minister Modi genuinely cared about environmental accountability.
