Hyderabad: BRS leader and MLC Dasoju Sravan alleged irregularities in the allotment of Khairatabad 2BHK Housing units and demanded a transparent inquiry into the process.
Addressing beneficiaries and residents at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Sravan accused the Congress government and Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender of diverting houses meant for poor families and original land donors.
He claimed that authorities constructed 210 double-bedroom houses opposite IMAX Theatre in Khairatabad after acquiring land from local families with assurances of housing benefits.
Khairatabad 2BHK Housing allotments under scrutiny
Sravan alleged that officials failed to honour commitments made to families that surrendered land for the housing project. According to him, several genuine beneficiaries are still waiting for allotments. Meanwhile, politically connected individuals allegedly received priority.
He demanded cancellation of what he described as illegal allotments. He also sought priority allocation for families that contributed land for the project. Furthermore, Sravan called for complete transparency in the allotment process through disclosures under the Right to Information Act.
Khairatabad 2BHK Housing beneficiaries seek justice
The BRS leader cited cases of families that allegedly gave up valuable land in expectation of receiving homes. He said one family surrendered two plots measuring 120 square yards each. He also referred to a differently-abled woman who reportedly parted with her land after officials assured her of future housing benefits.
According to Sravan, denying such families housing allotments amounts to a serious injustice. He further alleged that local authorities and political leaders favoured Congress workers, loyalists and middlemen during the allotment process.
Sravan warned that affected residents could launch a large-scale agitation if authorities fail to address their grievances. He urged the government to take corrective measures immediately and ensure justice for all eligible beneficiaries of the Khairatabad 2BHK Housing project.
