Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday declared that K. Chandrashekar Rao’s return to power was impossible as long as he remained active in politics.
Throwing an open challenge to the BRS president, Revanth Reddy said the Congress would form the government again in 2029 with 87 seats. This presupposes elections were held for 119 Assembly constituencies. He said the party would secure more than 100 seats if the number of constituencies increased to 150.
“This is my challenge. If KCR has courage, he should accept it and be ready to face the elections,” the Chief Minister said.
Revanth Reddy said the political chapter of the BRS and its leader had come to an end. He described his statement as a vow made before the people of Kodangal. Additionally, he asserted that KCR would not return to power in the upcoming elections.
Revanth Reddy challenges KCR to Assembly debate
The Chief Minister made the remarks while attending a felicitation programme. This event was for newly elected sarpanches from the Kodangal Assembly constituency at Kosgi in Narayanpet district.
He said the State government was ready to discuss any issue in the Legislative Assembly. He asked KCR to attend the House and engage in meaningful debates.
Revanth Reddy said discussions could be held on the Kaleshwaram project, Krishna and Godavari river water sharing, and alleged phone tapping. He questioned why the BRS chief continued to stay away from the Assembly.
He also criticised BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao, saying he was not in a position to challenge him. Specifically, because he could not respond to issues raised by his own sister.
In a separate announcement, the Chief Minister said the State government would take responsibility for providing breakfast and lunch along with education. This initiative would start in government schools from the next academic year.
