Telangana Rashtra Sena announced at Medchal meet

Kavitha began the day with multi-faith prayers. In addition, she led a rally from her Banjara Hills residence and paid tributes at Gun Park before reaching the venue.

She named the party Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS), reviving a title that closely mirrors the earlier identity of Bharat Rashtra Samithi. Therefore, the move triggered reactions, particularly within BRS.

Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, quit BRS months earlier. Moreover, she differed with K. T. Rama Rao over party matters.

At the meeting, she targeted the BRS leadership. In addition, she positioned the new party as an attempt to reclaim the ideological legacy of the Telangana movement.

Organisers designed the venue with Telangana cultural symbols. Moreover, they replicated the Warangal Kakatiya Kala Thoranam at the entrance and installed a Telangana Thalli statue.

They also placed statues of B.R. Ambedkar, Jyotirao Phule, and Acharya Jayashankar at the venue. Therefore, organisers projected the event as rooted in social justice and regional identity.

Kavitha credited Telangana Jagruthi for its role in the statehood movement. Moreover, she indicated that the new party would build on that legacy.
