Hyderabad: TRS president K. Kavitha stirred a political controversy on Monday with strong remarks against the installation of Andhra leaders’ statues in Telangana.
Addressing a round-table meeting on the aspirations and achievements of Telangana activists at the party office in Banjara Hills, Kavitha accused political opponents of targeting Telangana’s identity and culture.
She said her party would strongly oppose any attempt to impose another region’s culture on Telangana. Kavitha also warned of action against statues of Andhra leaders if her party came to power.
She described the party’s current phase as “TRS 2.0” and asserted that Telangana’s identity remained its primary concern.

Kavitha alleged that a larger political conspiracy was underway to weaken Telangana’s identity.
Furthermore, she claimed that certain leaders were encouraging such efforts through political decisions and public statements.
The TRS chief also criticised the Congress government. She alleged that it had failed to fulfil the aspirations of Telangana activists even after more than two years in office.
Additionally, she accused the government of delaying decisions through committees instead of implementing commitments made to movement activists.
Kavitha also targeted Andhra Pradesh leaders, including Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan. She reiterated her demand that he apologise to the people of Telangana before conducting public meetings in the state.
Meanwhile, she criticised leaders of the Andhra Pradesh ruling alliance over issues related to the state’s capital.
She further urged the Chief Minister to make a clear announcement on promises made to Telangana activists during the Telangana Formation Day celebrations.
According to Kavitha, extending benefits to only a few activists would not address the broader aspirations of those who participated in the Telangana movement.
