Hyderabad: Karimnagar Police destroyed 63.621 kg of ganja and one cannabis plant seized in different cases. The department carried out the exercise as part of its campaign to build a drug-free society.
Police Commissioner Gaus Alam supervised the destruction on Wednesday. During the exercise, police incinerated the ganja recovered in 38 cases registered at different police stations across the commissionerate.
Police conducted the disposal at the Venkataramana Incinerator Centre in Edulagattepalli village under the Manakondur Police Station limits. Meanwhile, the Drug Disposal Committee supervised the process.
Karimnagar Police intensify anti-drug drive
Speaking on the occasion, Police Commissioner Gaus Alam said the department would not tolerate the illegal transport, sale or consumption of ganja and other narcotic substances. He also warned drug traffickers of strict legal action.
Additionally, the Commissioner urged young people to stay away from narcotic substances. He further appealed to the public to inform the police immediately if they came across drug-related activities.
Assistant Commissioners of Police Srinivas G. and Venkataswamy, Inspectors Rafeeq and Srilatha, Reserve Inspectors Rajinikanth and Sridhar Reddy, incinerator plant representatives Tirupati and Prabhakar Reddy, along with other police personnel, attended the programme.
