Following directions from AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Jagga Reddy will hold an internal party meeting at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday. Meanwhile, he has invited key leaders from the constituency to attend the discussions.
Jagga Reddy informed Suryapet District Congress Committee president Gudipati Narsaiah over the phone to invite the local MLA, MP, district ministers and other senior leaders. He asked all invitees to reach Gandhi Bhavan by noon.
Tungaturthi Congress row reaches Gandhi Bhavan
The meeting follows protests by senior Congress leaders over the appointment of mandal presidents. Earlier, party workers staged a demonstration outside Gandhi Bhavan. They accused MLA Mandula Samuel of sidelining long-time Congress leaders and raised slogans demanding that the party be “saved.”
Jagga Reddy met the protesting leaders on Thursday and assured them that the party would address their concerns. Further, he said he would bring the issue to the notice of TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud and work towards a solution acceptable to all sections.
Following those developments, the TPCC appointed Jagga Reddy as the observer for the dispute. Additionally, the party directed him to examine the differences and submit a report to the leadership.
Jagga Reddy will hear the views of key Tungaturthi leaders during Friday’s meeting. Finally, he will submit his findings and recommendations to the party leadership for further action.
