Hyderabad: Police arrested a Hyderabad auto driver for allegedly raping and robbing a woman after taking her to a secluded spot near Ghatkesar instead of the hospital she had asked to be taken to.
According to the complaint, the woman boarded a passenger auto at Bharat Nagar in Uppal and asked the driver to take her to a hospital in the Ghatkesar area. Meanwhile, the driver stopped near the Tatikallu depot in Bharat Nagar and collected a parcel of toddy.
Hyderabad auto driver arrested within 24 hours
Police alleged that the driver later took the woman to a secluded location near the Outer Ring Road service road in Ghatkesar. Further, he allegedly mixed an intoxicating substance into a soft drink and gave it to her.
After the woman lost consciousness, the accused allegedly raped her. Police said he also stole her mobile phone and cash before fleeing. He allegedly abandoned her at the spot.
After regaining consciousness, the woman approached the Pocharam IT Corridor Police Station and lodged a complaint. Additionally, police formed a special team and examined technical evidence and CCTV footage during the investigation.
Finally, police arrested the accused within 24 hours of registering the case. The investigation is continuing.
