Hyderabad: An Iranian delegation on Thursday held discussions with Telangana ministers on the functioning of the Telangana cooperative sector and explored opportunities for future cooperation.
Agriculture, Cooperation, Marketing, Handlooms and Textiles Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, along with Mines and Geology Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy, met the delegation at the Secretariat.
The Iranian delegation included Iran’s Minister for Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare, H.E. Dr. Meidari, Deputy Minister for Cooperatives Dr. Sarfi, Ambassador to India H.E. Dr. Mohammad Fath Ali, Consul General in Hyderabad H.E. Hamid Ahmadiyeh, Vice Consul Mohsin Moghaddami and Foreign Ministry representative Hashemi.
Telangana cooperative sector reforms discussed with Iran delegation
Tummala briefed the delegation on measures taken to strengthen the cooperative movement in Telangana. He explained the functioning of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), membership expansion and services provided to farmers.
Further, the minister said the cooperative sector played a key role in strengthening the rural economy. He also said cooperative societies were implementing farmer welfare programmes effectively across the State.
Meanwhile, the Iranian delegation expressed interest in Telangana’s cooperative policies, institutional reforms and member services. Subsequently, both sides discussed exchanging experiences and strengthening cooperation in the sector.
Finally, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Vivek Venkatswamy felicitated the visiting delegates with shawls and mementoes. In turn, the delegation thanked the ministers and expressed hope for stronger bilateral cooperation.
