Hyderabad: An IIT Kharagpur assistant professor from Hyderabad was found dead under suspicious circumstances in his campus quarters in West Bengal. Police launched an investigation after staff alerted them when he did not respond to repeated phone calls.
The deceased was identified as Pullaguram Deepak Reddy, 36, an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. Staff informed police after he failed to answer calls and did not open the door to his residence.
Police from the Hijli Outpost entered the quarters with the help of security personnel at around 12.30 pm on Wednesday. They found Deepak Reddy unresponsive inside the room and shifted him to the BC Roy Hospital on the campus. Doctors declared him dead.

Investigators sealed the room and began collecting evidence. Meanwhile, police said they are examining all possible angles to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
Officials confirmed that no suicide note was found at the scene. Furthermore, West Midnapore Superintendent of Police Papiya Sultana said the exact cause of death would become clear only after the post-mortem examination.
Police informed Deepak Reddy’s family in Hyderabad about the incident. However, IIT Kharagpur had not issued an official statement on the incident at the time of reporting.
