Hyderabad: A Hyderabad school controversy erupted after a teacher at a private school in Saidabad allegedly assigned Islamic religious verses as homework to a Class II Hindu student, prompting protests by the child’s family and a police complaint.
According to the family, the teacher at Success School asked the student to learn and recite the *Kalma* and *Surah Al-Fatiha*. The teacher also wrote the instructions in the student’s school diary.
The issue surfaced after the child returned home and the parents checked the diary. They expressed shock and questioned why the teacher had assigned religious lessons to a young student.
Hyderabad school controversy leads to teacher’s removal
Subsequently, the parents, along with relatives and local residents, went to the school and questioned the management. Videos related to the incident later circulated widely on social media.
Meanwhile, the family filed a complaint at the Saidabad Police Station.
Following the controversy, the school management described the incident as an individual error by the teacher. It immediately removed teacher Shaik Ayesha Parveen from service.
Further, the management said it would not employ her again. It also clarified that the school does not permit religious teaching of this nature.
Reacting to the incident, BJP Telangana president Ramchander Rao alleged that such incidents were receiving encouragement because of the Congress government’s approach. He demanded cancellation of the school’s recognition and strict action against those responsible.
Additionally, BJP MLA Raja Singh termed the incident serious. He alleged that the child had faced religious pressure. He also demanded that the district collector conduct a detailed inquiry and submit a report.
