Hyderabad Police Commissioner urges public to stay alert during heavy rains

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police rain advisory urged residents to remain alert as heavy rainfall is likely over the next two days, Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said on Thursday.

The Commissioner asked the public to monitor weather updates and official warnings from the Meteorological Department. He also advised residents to plan their daily travel in advance. Sajjanar inspected traffic movement at the Panjagutta and Khairatabad junctions. He reviewed road conditions and instructed officers to remain vigilant.

The Commissioner said Hyderabad Police were coordinating with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other government departments. He said the joint effort aimed to minimise inconvenience during the rains. He added that traffic personnel would remain on the ground to regulate traffic and respond quickly to emergencies.

The Hyderabad Police rain advisory urged residents to stay away from open manholes, snapped power lines and damaged electric poles during rainfall. The Commissioner also asked motorists to slow down in low-lying areas and near flyovers where waterlogging could occur.

He urged people to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain over the next two days. Residents should leave home only if essential, he said. The Commissioner also asked the public to dial 100 for emergency or traffic assistance.

He further urged residents to follow traffic advisories released through the Traffic Police’s social media handles and other official platforms. He said these advisories would help commuters travel safely during the monsoon.
