Hyderabad: Commissioner’s Task Force personnel and Malakpet Police busted an inter-state ganja racket in Hyderabad and arrested two alleged drug peddlers while seizing 20 kg of narcotics valued at around ₹10 lakh.
The police apprehended the accused at Dilsukhnagar Bus Stop on Thursday during a joint operation conducted by the Secunderabad Zone Task Force and Malakpet Police.
The arrested individuals were identified as Ramesh Bandam, 28, and Nirmal Chhatria, 29, both residents of Malkangiri district in Odisha.
During the operation, police seized 20 kg of ganja packed in four parcels, two mobile phones and other incriminating material.
Inter-state ganja racket linked to Odisha supplier
According to investigators, an Odisha-based supplier identified as Anand Thakura alias David allegedly recruited the accused to transport ganja from Odisha to Hyderabad.
Police said the supplier allegedly promised ₹10,000 to each accused for every trip.
The duo was reportedly carrying the consignment to deliver it to a Hyderabad-based receiver identified as Goutham.
However, the intended receiver remains absconding.
Investigators said the accused were transporting the narcotics as part of a wider trafficking network operating across state borders.
