Hyderabad: BRS leaders Harish Rao and KTR paid tributes to Konda Laxman Bapuji on his death anniversary and recalled his contribution to Telangana movements and public causes.
Harish Rao said Bapuji had shown through his life that leadership meant standing with people rather than seeking positions. He described him as a visionary who remained committed to public struggles from the freedom movement through the Telangana statehood movement.
Harish Rao recalled that Bapuji gave up his ministerial post during the 1969 Telangana movement. He also highlighted Bapuji’s commitment to weaker sections and handloom workers.
Konda Laxman Bapuji played key role in Telangana movements
KTR described Bapuji as a leader who devoted his life to movements and struggles. He said Bapuji’s contribution to public movements, from the freedom struggle to the second phase of the Telangana movement, remained significant.
KTR recalled the formation of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi at Jal Drushyam, the residence of Bapuji. He said the party was formed there under the leadership of K Chandrashekar Rao.
According to KTR, the meeting place also became a starting point for the second phase of the Telangana movement. He recalled that the then Telangana government later installed Bapuji’s statue on Tank Bund after the formation of the state.
KTR also said the KCR government honoured Bapuji by naming the state horticulture university after him. The BRS leaders paid their tributes on his death anniversary.
