Hyderabad: Former minister and senior BRS leader Harish Rao on Tuesday said the High Court verdict on hidden government orders had exposed the Congress government.
Posting on X, Harish Rao said the court directed the government to disclose all hidden GOs within four weeks. He described the order as a slap on the face of the so-called people’s government.
Addressing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao demanded that the government place all GOs in the public domain. He asked what the administration was hiding behind secret orders.
Hidden government orders issue reaches High Court
According to Harish Rao, the Congress came to power promising transparency. However, he alleged that the government continued to hide official orders from the public.
The issue surfaced after a public interest litigation was filed in the High Court. BRS senior leader Errolla Srinivas filed the PIL based on RTI replies.
Harish Rao said the government issued 19,064 GOs during the period from December 7, 2023, to January 26, 2025. During this time, officials uploaded only 3,290 GOs to the public domain.
As a result, he claimed the government withheld 15,774 GOs in just 13 months. He said this meant nearly 82 per cent of orders remained hidden.
Questioning the intent, Harish Rao asked why the government kept such a large number of GOs secret. He said the High Court order had now forced the administration to reveal the truth.
