Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday criticised Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K. Chandrashekar Rao for making derogatory remarks, asserting that the Congress would respond through public service and electoral strength.
Addressing a public meeting at Patha Pinapaka village in Tallada mandal, Vikramarka said the Congress-backed candidates had won 85 percent of the sarpanch seats in recent panchayat elections. This reflected massive public support for the government’s welfare schemes.
Bhatti slams BRS leaders”Because people are backing Congress, KCR is resorting to inappropriate language like ‘we will skin,'” he said. The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that Congress leaders would not use such language. Instead, they would counter political opponents through governance and accountability.
He questioned why Chandrashekar Rao, as Leader of the Opposition, had not attended a single Assembly session in the past two years. “Is he afraid of the Assembly? Does someone who avoids legislative responsibility deserve that position?” Vikramarka asked.
Drawing a contrast, Vikramarka recalled that during his own tenure as Leader of the Opposition, he had attended every session without fail. He persistently raised public concerns on the Assembly floor.
Reacting sharply to KCR’s comments, he said, “No one here is empty-handed. If leaders sitting with a group of ten people issue threats to those working for the people, they will face resistance.”
Earlier in the day, Vikramarka laid the foundation stone for several electricity sub-station works in the region.
He said that Congress had recorded major victories in 85 out of 94 Assembly segments where panchayat polls were held. He described this mandate as unprecedented in recent political history.
