Gun culture rising under Congress rule in Telangana, says BJP chief Rao

Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao has accused the Congress government of fostering a growing gun culture and deteriorating law and order across the state.

BJP targets Congress–MIM alliance in Jubilee Hills bypoll

On Sunday, after meeting ‘Shakti Kendra’ in-charges for the Jubilee Hills by-election, Rao told reporters that the real contest was between the BJP and AIMIM. He claimed Congress candidate Naveen Yadav had earlier contested on an MIM ticket. According to Rao, this pointed to a tacit Congress–MIM alliance.

He alleged that the ruling party had failed to implement its Six Guarantees. “If the Congress–MIM alliance wins, their new agenda will be to give rowdy sheeters a free hand,” he said.

Rao highlighted several violent incidents, including the stabbing of a constable in Nizamabad, the shooting of a Gau Rakshak, and an attack on police at Chaderghat. These incidents, he said, showed how unsafe even police officers had become. “If police aren’t safe, what can common citizens expect?” he asked.

BJP slams AIMIM visit to hospitalised rowdy sheeter

Rao further criticised AIMIM leaders, including an MLA, for visiting the hospital where the accused rowdy sheeter was admitted. Meanwhile, senior police officers visited the injured DCP Chaitanya Kumar and his gunman. Rao said this showed misplaced political priorities.

He revealed that he had written to the DGP in advance, warning of potential law and order threats. However, he claimed the government ignored the warning and took no preventive steps.

Appealing to voters in Jubilee Hills, Rao said the bypoll was a choice between rising gun culture and responsible governance. He expressed confidence that the BJP would win and that this victory would signal the party’s growth across Telangana.

BJP pays homage to Komaram Bheem

Earlier, Rao paid floral tributes to tribal leader Komaram Bheem at the BJP state office. He praised Bheem’s resistance against British and Nizam rule and recalled his call for “Jal, Jangal, Jameen” (Water, Forest, Land).

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, national executive member Garikapati Mohan Rao, state general secretaries Dr. N. Gautam Rao and Vemula Ashok, and organising secretary Chandrasekhar also attended the meeting.
