GHMC conducts compost awareness sessions for RWAs

Hyderabad: The Urban Biodiversity wing of GHMC conducted compost awareness sessions for Resident Welfare Associations as part of the Praja Palana–Pragati Pranalika 99-day action plan.

The programme aimed to encourage sustainable waste management practices and promote household-level composting.

Officials educated participants on waste segregation, compost bins, maintenance methods and the use of compost for gardening and urban greenery.

Compost awareness programme held for RWAs

The awareness sessions received a positive response from RWA members, who assured support for composting activities in their colonies.

GHMC conducted 28 training sessions and trained nearly 500 to 600 RWA members in areas including Kisanbagh, Mettuguda and Kavadiguda.

Organisers explained simple and eco-friendly methods to convert wet waste into organic compost.

Officials said the initiative supports sustainable sanitation, environmental protection and community participation for a cleaner Hyderabad.
