SCRWWO seminar highlights water conservation efforts

Hyderabad: The South Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (SCRWWO) organised a water conservation seminar on rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge and solid waste management at railway stations.

The seminar was held at Sanchalan Bhavan in Hyderabad on Friday.

Secunderabad Division DRM Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan attended the programme as chief guest. Meanwhile, SCRWWO–SC Division president Sandhya Gopalakrishnan participated as guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Gopalakrishnan stressed the importance of sustainable practices in railway operations.

He highlighted the need for water conservation and scientific waste management across railway establishments.

Sandhya Gopalakrishnan underlined the importance of public awareness and community participation in protecting environmental resources.

She said long-term environmental sustainability required collective responsibility and consistent conservation efforts.

Experts including Dr. Kiran Kumar and Dr. Aarati Bhandare delivered technical sessions during the seminar.

They explained methods related to groundwater recharge and scientific waste disposal at railway stations.

Furthermore, the speakers discussed practical approaches to strengthen sustainable infrastructure within railway premises.

The programme was attended by officers of Secunderabad Division and members of SCRWWO–SC Division.

Organisers said the event reflected the joint commitment of Secunderabad Division and SCRWWO towards promoting environmental awareness.

In addition, the seminar focused on resource conservation and sustainable operational practices across railway establishments.

The organisers also stressed the importance of continuing awareness programmes on environmental protection and waste management.
