Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Friday conducted a Ganesh immersion aerial survey and reviewed security, crowds and traffic across major procession routes. The Hyderabad in-charge minister conducted the survey with senior police, civic and district officials.
The team left Begumpet Airport in a special helicopter. It surveyed Hussainsagar and major procession routes across the city. Moreover, officials reviewed crowd movement and traffic conditions during the immersion process.
DGP C.V. Anand, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan accompanied the minister. Hyderabad District Collector Priyanka Ala also participated in the aerial inspection.
Ganesh immersion aerial survey finds situation peaceful
After the Ganesh immersion aerial survey, Ponnam said the immersion process had continued peacefully and remained under control. He said the final-day immersion marked the conclusion of the 11-day Ganesh festivities in Hyderabad.
Idols from different parts of Hyderabad and Secunderabad were moving towards immersion points. These included the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh and Balapur Ganesh. Meanwhile, authorities completed the Khairatabad Ganesh immersion in the afternoon.
Ponnam said the government had made arrangements to ensure a peaceful immersion process. He added that departments had coordinated their work under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s directions. The minister said senior officials were jointly monitoring the arrangements throughout the day.
Minister seeks faster Ganesh immersion process
Ponnam urged festival organisers and devotees to cooperate with authorities and speed up idol movement. He cited the possibility of rain and asked organisers to complete the immersion process as quickly as possible.
Furthermore, he said the government intended to complete the process by Saturday morning or at the earliest possible time. The minister appealed to festival committees, organisers and devotees to support the authorities in meeting the target.
He also urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and help prevent accidents or law-and-order problems. Meanwhile, traffic congestion emerged at some locations, including MJ Market and Charminar.
Ponnam said officials had received instructions to clear the congestion through coordination among departments. He added that the government had taken measures to minimise inconvenience to the public during the immersion.
