Failed guarantees protest intensified by BJP, slams Congress

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao intensified protests against the Congress government, alleging failure to implement poll promises and accusing it of suppressing dissent during demonstrations.

Rao made the remarks after police detained him at Punjagutta police station during the BJP’s “Assembly Siege” protest. He alleged that the Congress government failed to deliver on its guarantees even after more than two years in power.

He said police detained over 800 BJP workers across the state. These included women and youth activists. Authorities also placed several leaders under house arrest, he added.

Rao described the action as anti-democratic. He accused the government of attempting to silence opposition voices. Therefore, the failed guarantees protest gained further momentum, he said.

Failed guarantees protest highlights detentions and claims

Rao said key promises remained unfulfilled despite repeated assurances. He pointed to financial support for farmers and fee reimbursement schemes as major gaps.

Moreover, he said pension schemes and welfare measures suffered neglect. According to him, the government failed to prioritise core commitments.

He also claimed that none of the Six Guarantees reached people effectively. However, he acknowledged that free bus travel for women was implemented.

At the same time, he accused the government of spreading misleading claims about full implementation. He said the failed guarantees protest aimed to expose these gaps.

Failed guarantees protest to continue, BJP warns

Rao warned that the BJP would continue its agitation until the government fulfilled its promises. He said the party would intensify protests across Telangana.

He maintained that the Congress government deceived all sections of society after coming to power. Therefore, the failed guarantees protest would remain a key political campaign.

He reiterated that public pressure would continue until accountability was ensured. He also called for immediate action to implement pending schemes.
