Hyderabad: State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini sought ex-officio members details for participation in mayor and chairman elections scheduled on February 16.
She directed district collectors to submit details of ex-officio members, including Members of Parliament, MLAs and MLCs, who were eligible to vote in the civic elections. She issued the instructions during a video conference with district collectors and additional collectors.
The commissioner also asked officials to furnish records of municipalities and municipal corporations registered earlier. In addition, she instructed municipal commissioners to collect fresh ex-officio members details from concerned representatives between February 11 and February 14, 2026.
CDMA Director Dr T.K. Sridevi, election observers Makarand, and State Election Commission Secretary Lingya Naik attended the video conference.

Meanwhile, the municipal election process reached a decisive stage on Tuesday with the completion of nomination scrutiny across the State.
Elections covered 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations, accounting for 2,996 wards. A total of 20,313 candidates submitted 29,694 sets of nominations.
Election officials rejected nominations of 705 candidates during scrutiny. They declared 19,608 nominations valid after verification.
However, candidates retained the option to withdraw their nominations until 3 pm on Tuesday. After the withdrawal deadline, election authorities planned to publish the final list of contesting candidates.
Officials also prepared to allot election symbols to independent candidates following the release of the final list.
