Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday said India could achieve the Viksit Bharat goal only through quality education and better healthcare services for every citizen.
Addressing the 11th NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting in New Delhi, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Revanth Reddy described education and healthcare as the strongest foundations of national development.
He also stressed the need for major educational reforms, stronger skill development programmes and world-class infrastructure.
Viksit Bharat goal linked to quality education
The Chief Minister said national development depended on the well-being of citizens. Moreover, he said education and healthcare empowered people to contribute to the economy and nation-building.
Referring to Telangana’s 2024 Socio-Economic, Educational, Employment and Political Caste Survey, Revanth Reddy said the study covered 3.55 crore people from 242 castes.
According to the survey, education emerged as the primary factor behind social backwardness. In contrast, wealth and land ownership played a lesser role.
Therefore, he said universal access to quality education remained essential for achieving the Viksit Bharat goal.
Viksit Bharat goal requires educational transformation
Revanth Reddy highlighted the Telangana government’s efforts to improve public education and increase enrolment in government schools.
He said the government introduced English-medium instruction, digital classrooms and quality teaching facilities in state-run schools. In addition, it expanded student welfare measures.
These initiatives include free breakfast, midday meals, evening snacks, transportation facilities and sports infrastructure.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister said students could now pursue education from nursery to intermediate level on a single campus.
He also expressed confidence that the government’s Young India Schools would help reduce caste-based divisions and expand educational opportunities.
