CPI to hold centenary public meeting in Khammam on January 18

Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India will organise a centenary public meeting in Khammam on January 18 as part of its 100-year celebrations, CPI Telangana State Secretary and MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said on Friday.

Speaking at the CPI State office at Makhdoom Bhavan, Kunamneni said the CPI centenary meeting would be unprecedented in scale. He added that the event aimed to reaffirm the relevance of communist ideology in the present times.

He said the party set a target of mobilising around five lakh people. Moreover, he described the proposed gathering as a “Red Sea” meant to counter those questioning the existence of communists.

Kunamneni said the party invited Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, leaders of national Left parties, and representatives from nearly 40 countries. According to him, their presence would reflect international solidarity.

CPI centenary meeting to draw national and global leaders

Meanwhile, Kunamneni said the party would hold a conference of national Left party leaders in Khammam on January 19. Subsequently, the CPI will convene a meeting of its National Council, he added.

He said the centenary public meeting should boost confidence among people and party cadres. At the same time, he asserted that communism would continue to exist as long as humanity survives.

To ensure the success of the CPI centenary meeting, the party will organise district-wise rallies across Telangana. In addition, he said participants were expected from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and several other states.

Kunamneni said the centenary celebrations would showcase the CPI’s political legacy. He added that the programme would also reaffirm the party’s commitment to people’s struggles across the country.
