CPI to hold mega public meeting in Khammam on Jan 18 for centenary finale

Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India (CPI) will hold a large public meeting in Khammam on January 18 to mark the final day of its centenary celebrations. CPI State Secretary and MLA Koonamneni Sambasiva Rao made the announcement on Saturday.

The event will take place at SRBGNR Degree College Grounds and is expected to attract lakhs of people from across the country. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, senior Left leaders, and delegates from nearly 40 countries will participate. Koonamneni said the CPI Khammam public meeting would directly counter claims that communism is no longer relevant in India.

Koonamneni addressed reporters in Hyderabad alongside other CPI leaders. He said thousands of supporters from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and other states had arranged transport to attend. A parade of 10,000 Jana Seva Dal volunteers will precede the meeting.

The party will also hold a national conference in Khammam on January 19. From January 19 to 21, the CPI will conduct meetings of its National Secretariat, Executive Committee, and National Council.

On current political issues, Koonamneni stressed the growing demand for unity among communist parties. He said recent policies had hurt workers’ rights and threatened democratic institutions.

CPI National Secretary Palla Venkata Reddy said the public continues to rely on communists for real solutions. National Control Commission Chairman Dr. K. Narayana added that the CPI had defended democracy, national unity, and rights for 100 years. “The future belongs to the people and to the Communist Party,” he said.
