Uttam Kumar Reddy to present key briefing on Krishna, Godavari waters

Hyderabad: The state Irrigation Minister, Uttam Kumar Reddy, will give a key PowerPoint presentation on Krishna and Godavari river waters on the first of next month.

The Congress government planned the presentation as it sharpened its stand on inter-state water disputes. Uttam Kumar Reddy will address Congress ministers, MLAs and MLCs at Praja Bhavan.

He will explain Telangana’s river water policy and the state’s legal position. He will also outline decisions taken during the previous regime and the challenges now facing the state.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka will attend the programme, according to officials.

Government sources said the briefing aimed to equip party legislators with clear facts. The leadership wanted members to be prepared before the detailed Assembly discussions.

Uttam Kumar Reddy briefing ahead of Assembly debate

Uttam Kumar Reddy will also make PowerPoint presentations in the Assembly on the second and third of the month. He will take up the Krishna and Godavari river issues separately during these sessions.

Officials said the Assembly presentations aimed to place full details before the public. The government planned to use the floor of the House to explain its position clearly.

Before the Assembly debate, the minister will brief Congress ministers, MLAs and MLCs a day in advance. The move seeks to ensure a unified stand during discussions.

During the presentation, Uttam Kumar Reddy will outline Telangana’s rights over Krishna and Godavari waters. He will also explain the status of disputes with Andhra Pradesh.

The minister will detail cases pending before the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal. He will highlight the losses Telangana suffered due to decisions taken by the previous government.

In addition, Uttam Kumar Reddy will explain the steps taken by the present Congress government. He will also outline plans for new irrigation projects and lift irrigation schemes.
