Hyderabad: Advisor to the Telangana Government Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Wednesday reaffirmed that the Congress government is committed to delivering visible change across the state. He highlighted that the administration is acting swiftly and decisively to turn promises into action. He made these remarks while addressing Telangana Praja Palana Dinothsavam celebrations at the Adilabad District Collectorate.
Shabbir Ali said the Congress government began fulfilling key promises within 48 hours of taking office. “These were not symbolic gestures,” he said. “They signalled our intent to put public welfare at the centre of governance.” Initial steps included enhanced pensions, free bus travel for women, farmer support during crop seasons, Indiramma housing, and healthcare expansion.
Congress committed visible change: Shabbir outlines major strides in Adilabad
Since December 2023, women in Telangana have made 2.53 crore free journeys under the Mahalakshmi scheme, saving ₹87.81 crore. In Adilabad alone, 1.92 lakh families now receive free fortified rice. Authorities issued 28,640 new ration cards and updated 34,113 existing ones. Additionally, 1.25 lakh families availed the ₹500 LPG subsidy. So far, 4.33 lakh gas cylinders have been delivered.
Under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, 1.02 lakh households receive 200 free power units every month. Across the district, 16.78 lakh beneficiaries have been covered, with ₹55.98 crore spent. Moreover, the government approved 1,290 new agricultural power connections.
In housing, officials sanctioned 15,402 Indiramma Indlu units. Construction started on 5,096 homes, with ₹53 crore already transferred to beneficiaries’ accounts.
Further, the administration released ₹329.77 crore to 1.6 lakh self-help groups. Farmers received 77,224 tonnes of fertiliser and 23.24 lakh mini-kits of pulses and jowar. Aarogyasri covered 25,051 patients, with ₹60.89 crore allocated. The RIMS Critical Care Block was completed at a cost of ₹23 crore.

Infrastructure, education, and tribal welfare see major boost
The district recorded strong infrastructure development under several schemes:
- ₹10.5 crore (TUFIDC) for roads and drainage
- ₹95.5 crore (AMRUT 2.0) for drinking water supply
- ₹225.46 crore for underground drainage
- ₹38.26 crore (PMGSY) for 7 roads (5 completed)
- ₹25.37 crore for 7 bridges (6 completed)
- ₹44.28 crore (PM-Janman) for 15 rural roads
In education, 1,495 students gained new admissions under Badi Baata. Scholarships worth ₹9.55 lakh supported 226 SC students. The district also opened four minority residential schools. Through Arogyalakshmi, 10,483 pregnant and lactating women receive nutritious meals daily. Additionally, 41,589 families benefitted from Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubarak, with ₹388.75 crore disbursed.
The tribal welfare push includes 76 girls’ schools supported under Girijana Poshan Mitra, and 11 tribal-run petrol bunks under active operation. Indira Mahila Shakti disbursed ₹60.85 crore in loans to women’s groups.
MGNREGA generated 34.97 lakh person-days. Workers received ₹96.62 crore in wages. Another ₹20.65 crore funded material costs. As part of Vanamahotsavam, 34 lakh saplings were raised in 468 nurseries, and 23.48 lakh were planted.
Vision 2047: Economic transformation with social justice
Shabbir Ali concluded by stating that Telangana Rising 2047 remains the guiding roadmap. The government aims to build a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. At its core, the vision prioritises social justice, inclusive development, and long-term prosperity.
