Community SHG audits launched to improve civic services in Cyberabad

Hyderabad: Community SHG audits are being conducted across Cyberabad as part of the State government’s 99-day action plan to strengthen citizen participation and improve civic services.

The initiative forms part of the Praja Palana–Pragati Pranalika programme and involves Self-Help Group members in monitoring civic infrastructure at the community level.

Under the exercise, SHG members assess Garbage Vulnerable Points and cleanliness in their localities.

They also monitor the functioning of streetlights and inspect the condition of lakes and surrounding areas.

Additionally, the teams review drinking water availability and quality.

Members also identify public safety concerns and report issues that require immediate attention.

Community SHG audits focus on local infrastructure

The audit process includes planning, field inspections, observation, documentation, verification and reporting.

SHG members submit their findings to the concerned departments for corrective action and service improvements.

Officials said the initiative promotes transparency, accountability and public participation in urban governance.

Moreover, the programme helps authorities identify local issues at an early stage.

As a result, departments can respond faster and coordinate better to resolve civic problems.

Authorities said the initiative aims to build cleaner neighbourhoods, safer public spaces and improved living conditions through community participation.
