Hyderabad: Dr. G. Chinna Reddy, Vice Chairman of the State Planning Board, on Sunday described Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s contributions to India’s freedom and education as “invaluable.” He was speaking at a memorial conference organised by the Telangana All Minority Employees and Workers Association (MEWA) in Tolichowki.
Chinna Reddy recalled Azad’s leadership as the Congress President during the Dandi Satyagraha and his transformative role in modernising India’s education system. He praised Azad as a key figure in shaping post-Independence India through visionary reforms.
Retired Forest Chief Conservator MG Akbar, attending as special guest, emphasised the importance of reviving educational values in contemporary India.
Azad MEWA memorial event honours 65 state employees
At the event, MEWA recognised 65 government employees—both Muslim and non-Muslim—from various departments with Best Service Awards for their contributions. The awards ceremony was led by MEWA President Sheikh Farooq Hussain, General Secretary Dr. Waheed Shah, and Working President Dr. Mouzam Ali Khan.
The conference drew large participation from Muslim employees, teachers, and community representatives, reflecting Azad’s enduring influence on public service and minority education.
