Hyderabad: Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy has alleged irregularities involving land transactions linked to BRS leader Harish Rao and his family in Siddipet. He said Congress MPs and MLCs visited the constituency to place what they described as facts about the land dealings before the public.
Chamala said Survey No. 271 in Siddipet constituency contains about 300 acres covered by Lavoni pattas. He said transactions involving the land were restricted.
According to Chamala, 4 acres and 8 guntas in the survey number were allotted to an ex-serviceman in 1995. Another 2 acres and 8 guntas were allotted to a freedom fighter.
Chamala alleged that Harish Rao’s father-in-law, Hanumantha Rao, purchased land in the same survey number during 2009-10 despite restrictions on transactions. He further alleged that the required no-objection certificate should have come from the Collector but was instead obtained from the RDO.
He claimed 6 acres and 18 guntas along the National Highway’s Rajiv Rahadari side were registered in Hanumantha Rao’s name. Chamala also raised allegations about assigned land at Velikatta village in Kondapak mandal.
He alleged that official authority was misused to transfer the assigned land into private names. Chamala further claimed that the relevant NOCs are now unavailable.
The Congress MP also raised questions about land acquired for the Ranganayaka Sagar project during 2016-17. He said 2,212 acres were initially taken for the project.
According to Chamala, 2,183 acres were ultimately used for the project, while about 30 acres were kept aside. He alleged that Harish Rao acquired 13 acres and 20 guntas from this land in 2018.
Harish Rao land purchase and road work questioned
Chamala alleged that a SUDA park was subsequently developed around the 13 acres and 20 guntas acquired by Harish Rao. He also questioned the involvement of SUDA and the Irrigation Department in developments around the property.
The MP claimed that a blacktop road was constructed to the property under the Irrigation Department. He alleged that the work cost Rs 5.30 crore and was undertaken without tenders.
Chamala further claimed that Harish Rao bought the 13 acres and 20 guntas for Rs 2 lakh per acre. He described the transaction and subsequent works as an abuse of official authority.
He also alleged that Harish Rao built a farmhouse on the land. Chamala questioned why land connected with the Irrigation Department was later acquired by Harish Rao and why SUDA was involved.
Chamala said Congress MPs and MLCs undertook the field visit to present these allegations directly to the people of Telangana. He said the Siddipet visit was intended to highlight what the Congress delegation described as irregularities involving BRS leaders’ land dealings.
