Kavitha says BRS women issues stance will not change for a millennium

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti President K. Kavitha said on Tuesday that the BRS women issues record would not change “for a millennium” and accused the party of repeatedly ignoring women’s concerns.

At a media briefing at the party office, she said BRS leaders skipped the Women’s Reservation Bill at a recent public meeting in Jagtial. The bill had become a major national issue, she noted. Yet, the party did not raise it.

She also said BRS leaders avoided criticising the BJP or the Union government at the meeting. Therefore, she alleged that links between BRS and the BJP had become clear.

Kavitha then listed several problems across Telangana. She cited frequent power cuts, water shortages, inactive procurement centres and delays in fee reimbursement. According to her, people across the state faced many unresolved issues.

She further said RTC employees remained on strike. Artisans had also staged a protest a day earlier. However, public meetings by Congress and BRS focused on political speeches instead of civic concerns, she said.

BRS women issues and youth representation

Kavitha said both meetings focused on political narratives rather than the concerns of Telangana residents. She called it absurd for BRS to invoke a 75-year-old leader while claiming youthful energy.

She asked why the state’s youth lacked space and representation. She then invited young people to join the party she was forming. It would offer them a platform to express their views, she said.

Kavitha also criticised the induction of Jeevan Reddy. She alleged that he had opposed Telangana’s formation and betrayed the state to please former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. The party must answer for celebrating his entry, she added.
