Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) launched a sharp attack on the Congress-led Telangana government. They accused it of attempting to seize 50 acres of land belonging to Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in Hyderabad. Party leaders warned that the move, seen as a MANUU land controversy, would undermine minority education and invited national embarrassment.
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao led the criticism. He alleged that the government was targeting land earmarked for student hostels, academic blocks, and future expansion at MANUU. He demanded an explanation from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Furthermore, he asked whether such actions reflected the party’s stated commitment to education and minority welfare.
“Is this your idea of protecting education?” KTR asked, questioning the silence of the Congress leadership. He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of favoring real estate interests over educational priorities, deepening the MANUU land controversy.
BRS threatens legal action over MANUU land controversy
Referring to the past controversy involving Hyderabad Central University, KTR warned that the state was once again inviting backlash. This was due to interfering with academic institutions involved in the MANUU land controversy. He declared that BRS would launch statewide protests and initiate legal proceedings if the reported land seizure was not immediately halted.
The party maintained that it would not allow the Congress government to encroach upon land belonging to a national minority university. It also alleged that such actions contradicted the promises made by the Congress on education and minority rights.
Hello @RahulGandhi Ji,
Are you even aware of what your government is doing in Telangana? Is this your idea of standing for education and minorities?
After the disgrace at HCU, where your CM bulldozed a green forest and crushed wildlife, bringing national shame to your party,… pic.twitter.com/rTzl6VpfOX
