Hyderabad: BRS legislators protested on Thursday over the alleged allotment of government land in the proposed Fourth City to Tesseract.
The BRS alleged that the company had links to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s brother, Kondal Reddy. The party questioned the terms of the alleged allotment.
According to the BRS, authorities allotted land worth about ₹200 crore to Tesseract for ₹7 crore. The party accused the Chief Minister of facilitating the deal for the benefit of his family members.
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and former minister T. Harish Rao led a delegation to Tukkuguda in Maheshwaram. The legislators visited the site to inspect the land allegedly allotted to the company.
The issue also triggered protests inside the Telangana legislature. BRS members raised the alleged land allotment during proceedings and demanded a discussion.
BRS land allotment protest leads to Council walkout
In the Legislative Council, BRS MLCs raised slogans for around half an hour. They pressed the government to take up the alleged allotment for discussion.
However, the government did not take up the issue for discussion, according to the BRS members. The legislators then walked out of the Council in protest.
The BRS alleged that the government had refused to allow a debate on the allotment of land to the company allegedly linked to the Chief Minister’s brother.
Meanwhile, Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Tesseract denied allegations of irregularities. The company and the minister rejected claims of wrongdoing in the land allotment.
The BRS continued its protest both inside and outside the legislature over the alleged transaction on Thursday.
