Minister blames BRS for debt and neglect during Dubbaka poll campaign

Hyderabad: Labour and Employment Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy on Sunday blamed the former BRS government for Telangana’s financial crisis and civic neglect. He said the state’s current problems stem from massive debt and unequal development under the previous regime during Dubbaka poll campaign.

Speaking at the Dubbaka municipal poll campaign near the Double Bedroom Housing Complex, the Minister accused BRS of pushing the state into nearly ₹8 lakh crore in debt. Despite this borrowing, the government failed to provide basic amenities, he said.

He cited recent protests by Mallanna Sagar oustees as proof of the government’s neglect of displaced families. According to him, BRS built Double Bedroom houses without issuing pattas, leaving thousands of families insecure.

Venkatswamy promised to issue pattas within 100 days if Congress wins control of the municipality. He said the party would also resolve all other problems faced by residents of these housing colonies.

Congress promises pattas and Dubbaka revenue division

He praised the Congress government’s ongoing welfare efforts. New pensions are already reaching eligible beneficiaries, he said, showing the party’s commitment to social security. In contrast, he called BRS a party that offered only “paper promises.”

The Minister urged voters to support Congress in all 20 wards of Dubbaka. If elected, he said he would work to secure Revenue Division status for the town. That step would bring faster administrative services and speed up local development.

Venkatswamy said only a Congress-led municipality could ensure full progress. He added that local self-governance was essential to address community issues. Large numbers of party leaders, workers, and local residents joined the campaign event.
