Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged a black ribbon protest rally in Asifabad on Sunday. The party denounced the SIT probe against party chief and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao as political harassment.
The protest was led by BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar and Asifabad MLA Kova Laxmi. It began from the MLA’s residence and culminated at Ambedkar Chowk. In addition, a large number of BRS supporters participated in the rally. They wore black ribbons to symbolise their dissent.
During the demonstration, BRS activists attempted to burn an effigy of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, but were stopped by police.
MLC Sravan Kumar accused the Congress government of resorting to vindictive politics. He claimed it was using the SIT to target KCR for raising questions about the ruling party’s failure to fulfil election guarantees.

He alleged that instead of addressing public issues, the Congress regime had adopted an authoritarian approach. The regime was misusing official machinery to silence opposition. He warned that people would respond strongly in the upcoming municipal elections.
The BRS leadership also criticised the Congress for deviating from its promises and creating unrest. They claimed that the SIT inquiry lacked basis and was driven by political motives rather than facts.
