BJP defends voter list revision, alleges opposition fears removal of bogus votes

Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao defended the ongoing Voter list revision exercise and alleged that opposition parties were opposing the process because they feared the removal of bogus votes from electoral rolls.

Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Monday, Rao said the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) was a constitutional exercise aimed at improving the accuracy of voter lists.

He said the process focused on adding eligible voters, removing deceased voters and deleting duplicate or ineligible entries.

Voter list revision aims to clean electoral rolls

Ramchander Rao maintained that no genuine voter would lose voting rights during the exercise.

According to him, the objective of the Voter list revision was to ensure clean, transparent and accurate electoral rolls.

He alleged that illegal infiltrators had secured voter registration with political support in some areas.

The BJP leader claimed that individuals from neighbouring countries had obtained fake identity documents and entered electoral rolls.

He further alleged that several houses in Hyderabad’s Old City contained large numbers of bogus voter registrations.

Rao questioned whether individuals staying illegally in the country should be granted voting rights.

He stressed that only Indian citizens were entitled to vote under the Constitution.

Voter list revision should protect genuine voters

The BJP leader said the SIR exercise was intended to identify and remove fake entries while safeguarding legitimate voters.

He asserted that not a single eligible citizen would lose voting rights because of the process.

According to Rao, the exercise would strengthen public confidence in elections and improve the credibility of electoral rolls.

He also accused Congress, BRS and AIMIM of opposing the process for political reasons.

The BJP leader argued that the Voter list revision would help eliminate irregularities and ensure greater transparency.

Voter list revision requires public cooperation

Ramchander Rao called upon citizens to cooperate with Booth Level Officers during the verification process.

He urged voters to verify their details and ensure that electoral records remained accurate.

The BJP leader said public participation was essential for the success of the exercise.

State BJP vice-president Jayasree, chief official spokesperson N. V. Subhash, legal cell member advocate Antony and other party leaders attended the press conference.
