Woman murdered over unpaid loan in Komaram Bheem district

Hyderabad: A 36-year-old woman was brutally murdered in Dahegaon mandal of Komaram Bheem district after a dispute over unpaid loan money, police said on Friday.

The victim, Atmakuri Kalavathi of Rallaguda village, had borrowed ₹40,000 four years ago along with her husband Santosh from fellow villager Vagade Bade Ram alias Bade Rao to construct a house. Since then, disputes over repayment had intensified, and the accused had earlier threatened to kill her, police said.

According to investigators, both Kalavathi and the accused attended a parents–teachers meeting at the government school in Ityala village on January 28. After the meeting, Bade Ram allegedly consumed alcohol and was riding his motorcycle when he noticed Kalavathi walking alone on the outskirts of Ityala.

Police said the accused rammed his motorcycle into her from behind, causing her to fall. When Kalavathi confronted him and warned that she would report the incident and file a complaint, the accused panicked. Fearing exposure and loss of money, he attacked her and strangled her to death using her saree.

After the murder, the accused dumped the body in a cotton field belonging to a local farmer and fled the spot.
